The fun starts Thursday night at Battlehops Brewing in the City of Katy, and continues with the Rice Festival in downtown Katy and a special event at the Houston Zoo that will be fun for children. There are even three fire houses that will have open houses on Saturday, and music on the patio in Cross Creek Ranch.

The 2019 Katy Rice Festival is this weekend October 11-13 in Downtown Historic Katy. Friday’s event will be “Octoberfest” with live music, carnival, food trucks and beer garden from 6-11 PM (free); Saturday will kick-off with the parade at 9 AM (free) and the festival will be from 10 AM-10 PM; Sunday gates will be open from 12-6 PM. Come enjoy quality arts & craft vendors, fun carnival, great live music, excellent food and drinks - fun for the whole family! Tickets to the festival on Saturday and Sunday are only $5 per adults and children 12 and under are free.

Celebrate your fall festivities and join us for Zoo Boo presented by LyondellBasell. Two local musicians will close out Italian Maid Café’s popular Music on the Patio series, 6-8:30 p.m. Fridays throughout October at Cross Creek Ranch. Singer Mitch Marcoulier returns on Oct. 11 with an encore performance on Oct. 25. Kids always like fire trucks so why not stop by the Willowfork Fire Department's Open House this weekend and bring the little ones. It's free. The Willowfork Fire Department will hold open houses at all 3 of its fire stations on Saturday, October 12th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Willowfork Station #1 is located at 24655 Westheimer Parkway, Willowfork Station #2 is located at 26950 Cinco Ranch Boulevard, and Willowfork Station 3 is located at 2700 Spring Green Blvd.

The public is invited to tour the stations, view the firefighting equipment and apparatus, and meet their local firefighters. There will also be activities for the younger visitors, including a Junior Firefighter Obstacle Course and fun fire safety giveaways. In addition, information will be provided on the theme for this year’s nationwide Fire Safety Week, “Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and Practice your Escape.”
