KATY/HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy News) - Daddy Duncan's BBQ was strictly focused on catering and operating a food truck, but now the company plans to open a stand-alone restaurant. The location will be near Katy Hockley Cut-Off Road and Clay Road and an early 2020 opening is expected.
"We bought our fixed location in Katy one year ago today, the statement said. "We hoped for it to be ready fast, but we all know building from the ground up takes time. Not only is it a major investment, but a lot of planning. We received more rain than usual during the summer that slowed us down."
Once the land dried out they were able to raise the property a foot to protect it from flooding. Rock has been brought in for the parking lot and driveways. They've even started construction on a fishing pond.
"Harris County has drawn up the permits and the building should be getting built soon," the statement said. The Harris County Fire marshal also needs to review the plans and utilities will need to be dropped into place.
"They’re treating this as a restaurant so there’s technicalities involved," said the statement. "There’s still a lot to do, restrooms, smoke room, prep kitchen, beer garden, stage for music, kids playground, but we want it done right, so there’s no rush in the process."
We’re hoping for an early 2020 opening, thanks for being patient with us.
