CITY OF KATY (Covering Katy News) — The Katy Area Chamber of Commerce has hired former Katy Area Economic Development Council vice president Rick Ellis to focus on strategic planning, leadership development and membership growth. Ellis will hold the title of Vice President with the chamber.

“We are excited that Rick has joined the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce. His knowledge of the Katy community will help lead the Chamber in its next era of growth,” said Matthew Ferraro, Katy Area Chamber President/CEO. “His background and experience will be a great addition to the Chamber as we promote a healthy business climate, thriving communities and excellent quality of life in the Katy Area.”

“Rick has a long history of building relationships by working with businesses and communities in ways that produce a true win-win for all,” Ferraro said.

According to a press release Ellis managed business recruitment initiatives through relationship building with local commercial real estate brokers, regional economic development allies, and corporate real estate and site selection consultants while at the Katy EDC.

"Prior to his work with the Katy Area EDC, Ellis has led marketing, community relations and corporate partnership efforts at several organizations, including Buckner International, the Houston Zoo and the Greater Houston Partnership," the press release stated.

“I’m very excited to join Matthew and the Chamber team as we continue to serve as a valuable resource by providing programs, creating opportunities and sharing information that greatly benefit Katy Area businesses and communities," Ellis said.

“The Katy area is a great place and we at the Katy Area Chamber are working hard to ensure it continues to thrive," Ellis added.
