KATY/HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy News) - The Mason Jar restaurant just opened in February and has already closed its doors at 727 West Grand Pkwy South near Kingsland Boulevard in Katy/Harris County.

Signs on the front door send a confusing message. One sign states that that the "Mason Jar is closed for management reorganization. Thank you for your patronage.  No date is set for re-opening."

While that message leaves the impression that the restaurant will be reopening, another sign on the front doors says the property is for lease.

The Mason Jar name on the roadside sign has also been covered over with a black plastic bag and duct tape.

Competition in the restaurant industry is always a factor in their longevity. A new restaurant is about to open behind the Mason Jar called Mia's Table. It's expected to open later this month. It's not known if that played a factor in the Mason Jar closing.

No one answered the phone at the Mason Jar when we called but Covering Katy has left a message. If we hear more we'll let you know.

My experience was the food quality was not as good as the original and the prices were high for the quality/portion. Service was bad. It’s a shame.
