KATY (Covering Katy News) – Giving Tuesday is December 3, 2019. It's a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage giving and generosity worldwide.

Giving Tuesday Katy's celebration will be Dec. 3 at No Label Brewing Co. from 5:30-8 p.m. Representatives of the participating nonprofits will attend and people can stop by and donate.

The local Giving Tuesday organization hopes the Katy community will not only provide monetary donations, but also volunteer at a nonprofit they wish to support.

“This year Giving Tuesday Katy is not just focusing on donations it is also focusing on people wanting to volunteer with an organization in the Katy community," said organizer Sarah Beaton. “Volunteering is an opportunity for the people of Katy to give back to the nonprofits that serve their community.”

Giving Tuesday Katy is a part of the #GivingTuesday global movement to bring generosity and change to the world, and the community in which we live.

Eleven nonprofits are participating in this second year of Giving Tuesday Katy, including: Attack Poverty Friends of Sundown, Carrie’s Heart, Christ Clinic, Clothed By Faith, Compassion Katy, Hope Impacts, Katy Responds, Krause Children’s Center, Nerdy Girl Success, Stuff the Sleigh, The Arc of Katy and The Ballard House.

Every year, on GivingTuesday, millions of people across the globe mobilize to show up, give back, and change their communities. The goal is to create a massive wave of generosity that lasts well beyond that day and touches every person on the planet.

Founded in 2012, GivingTuesday has inspired millions of people to give back and support the causes they believe in.

"In just seven years, GivingTuesday has radically changed how we think about generosity and showed how much power to create change exists in communities everywhere," the organization's press release said.
