HOUSTON (Covering Katy News) - Houston actress Phylicia Rashad to headline HCC Black History Scholarship Gala Feb. 29, 2019.  HCC has several campuses including one in Katy and one in Stafford, Fort Bend County. 

Phylicia Rashad, acclaimed star of television, stage and screen, has been selected as the keynote speaker for the 2020 Houston Community College Black History Scholarship Gala, which provides college scholarships to students attending HCC.

Rashad, who is best-known for playing Claire Huxtable on the long-running television sitcom The Cosby Show, is a native Houstonian and educational supporter.

The HCC Black History Scholarship Gala takes place 6 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020, at the Hilton Americas-Houston, 1600 Lamar St., in downtown Houston. 

Rashad will speak and be interviewed by local news veterans and longtime HCC Black History Scholarship Gala emcees KTRK ABC13's Melanie Lawson and KPRC Ch. 2's Khambrel Marshall.
