FORT BEND ISD (Covering Fort Bend News) – Beginning July 19 through Aug. 6, Kroger shoppers will have an opportunity to support Fort Bend ISD students with their back to school needs. Kroger is presenting its annual Backpack Boosters initiative and has selected FBISD as a recipient of the program.
Backpack Boosters helps fill the gap and alleviate the burden placed on teachers to provide adequate supplies at their own expense. The program invites customers of Kroger stores across the region to purchase low-cost school supply kits (for $7) to donate to children in need. Customers may also donate any amount of money ($2, $5 or $10) at the Kroger store register to help local students. This year, the program's goal is to equip more than 45,000 children across Texas and Louisiana with the tools they need for a successful school year.
Each school supply kit is pre-packaged and contains a notebook, paper, pencils, markers, folders, a ruler and more. Separate items will also be available, including backpacks, lunch boxes and other donated items. Participating school districts will each receive a share of the kits to distribute to students in need. The donations FBISD receives will benefit the Shared Dreams Program.
