FORT BEND ISD (Covering Fort Bend News) – This year’s sales tax holiday begins Friday, Aug. 9 and ends at midnight on Sunday, Aug. 11. During the annual sales tax holiday, Texas shoppers can buy most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks (sold for less than $100) tax free from a Texas store, online or from a catalog merchant doing business in Texas.

The sales tax exemption applies only to qualifying items bought during the sales tax holiday, Aug. 9, 10 and 11. To learn more about the sales tax holiday/tax-free weekend – including qualifying items and special purchases – visit the Texas Comptroller’s website.
