ROSENBERG (Covering Fort Bend News) – The Rosenberg Police Department Criminal Investigation Division has received calls due to a scam that advises the victims they are being investigated by the Rosenberg Police Department and need to pay with gift cards or Western Union in order to not be arrested.

The caller is advising the call taker he or she is an employee of the Rosenberg Police Department. The callers have some basic information about the system, and they use the correct terminology in an attempt to make the call sound legitimate. No government agency solicits money over the phone. In many of the calls the person is representing herself as “Gina” and falsely states that she is a Rosenberg Police Detective.

If you receive a call to this nature do not provide any information and immediately contact the Rosenberg Police Department.
