FORT BEND COUNTY (Covering Fort Bend News/Covering Katy News) - Dr. Eliz Markowitz, candidate for Texas House District 28, is heading into the special election having earned the support of city, county, and regional organizations. The Fort Bend County Young Democrats, the Katy Area Democrats, and the AFL-CIO Tidelands Labor Assembly have all endorsed Markowitz for the special election to be held on November 5th, 2019. Markowitz is running for the seat being vacated by Republican Rep. John Zerwas of Richmond.

Markowitz is a Fort Bend County native running for Texas State Representative in House District 28. She spent her formative years in Texas, Holland, and England, before attending Trinity University, the University of Texas at San Antonio, and the University of Texas Health Science Center, where she received B.S. in Computer Science, an M.S. in Management of Technology, and an M.S. in Healthcare Informatics, respectively.
During this time she also worked for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the Office of the National Coordinator: Health Information Technology in an effort to reduce deaths due to medical error.
Markowitz later obtained her doctorate in Education from the University of Houston. She currently works at The Princeton Review as a teacher, corporate trainer, content developer, and author. Eliz is running to fight for logical, sustainable reforms that benefit all Texans.
