3rd annual literary & fine arts festival & parade set for April 16

FORT BEND COUNTY (Covering Fort Bend) – Fort Bend County Precinct 3 Commissioner Andy Meyers and Fort Bend County Libraries are hosting the 3rd annual Literary & Fine Arts Festival & Parade in partnership with Katy SUMMERfest on Saturday, April 16th from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the Cinco Ranch Branch Library located at 2620 Commercial Center Drive in Katy.

The festival includes:

*An essay and art contest for participating students in Fort Bend ISD, Katy ISD and Lamar CISD campuses within Precinct 3.


*Best of Show scholarship prizes of $1,000.00 will be awarded in each category which will include an art contest – one for elementary, one for junior high and one for high school and an essay contest – one for K – 2nd grades, one for 3rd – 5 grades and one for 6th – 8th grades

*Judges Choice award winners will receive summer camp scholarships through our generous sponsors

*Cutest Character Parade – children ages 2 to 10 come dressed up in their favorite book characters and are led through LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch by a Sherriff’s motorcycle, high school drumline, drill team members, cheerleaders, KVPAC, Katy ISD theatre kids, high school mascots, the Chick-fil-A cow and NEW: HOUSTON ASTROS Shooting Stars! Parade registration is open from 10:30 – 11:00 AM at the library and the parade begins promptly at 11:00

*Drawings for awesome prizes for participating teachers

*Live performances by high school choirs

*Tiger Rock Martial Arts of Katy board-breaking demonstration by their black belt students

*Summer camp vendors as well as retail vendors

*Food trucks

*Children’s activities including face painting, petting zoo, gaming truck, photo booth, Dino Man and much more!

*First response vehicles

*Helicopter flyover by the Sheriff’s department

*Finger printing for children by the Precinct 3 Constables
