KATY/FORT BEND COUNTY (Covering Katy News) – The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the homeowner that was shot and killed during a midnight home invasion on Glenrosa Drive Oct. 16. The victim was 29-year-old Brenton Estorffe, who was married with two young children.

"Someone broke a window and the homeowners heard it," said Sheriff Troy Nehls. "The father woke up and confronted two individuals at which time there were gunshots fired."

At the time Nehls spoke with the media he said it appeared the victim was unarmed. The victim's wife told detectives there were two men inside the house. The couple has two toddlers who were also in the house at the time their father was murdered. The mother and children were not physically injured.

“That breaks your heart," Nehls said.

"This is going to take some time to put all this together," he added.

The sheriff said his detectives will catch the people who were involved. Detectives are talking with neighbors, and attempting to see if neighborhood surveillance video is available.

"A neighbor saw a vehicle," Nehls said. “Most burglaries take place during the day. It’s a little unusual for guys who are going to breaking into a house to do it at midnight."

The investigation is ongoing and this story will be updated with additional information as it is made available.
