ROSENBERG (Covering Fort Bend News) – Two men are in custody after Rosenberg police responded to a call early Friday morning at the Wells Fargo bank at 6511 Reading Road.
Around 3:30 a.m. Sept. 6 dispatch received a call about a theft in progress. When officers arrived they found the bank’s ATM forcibly removed and damaged, along with a recently stolen vehicle that was apparently used during the attempted theft.
A traffic stop on a vehicle leaving the scene led to the arrest of the theft suspects. One of the suspects was released on bond in Harris County in May for in involvement in similar ATM thefts.
The suspects were identified as Demontrey Zendajas and Danzell Porter of Houston. Both were taken to the city jail. Charges will include attempted theft, a third-degree felony.
“These individuals came to our city with the intent to victimize our citizens and businesses and they’ve made a career of it,” said Police Chief Jonathan White. “This is an organized group of individuals who are moving around our state committing crimes and it’s time they are held accountable. Anyone with information about this group should contact Crime Stoppers and get paid for that information.”
