RICHMOND (Covering Fort Bend News) – A 16-year-old shot in a Richmond park has died and a 16-year-old suspect is in custody and has been charged with murder.

Around 1:35 p.m. yesterday, Aug. 22, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a park on Savannah Moss Drive in Tara. Residents reported a young male shot. When deputies arrived, they found the victim was gunshot wounds to the face and chest. He was air-lifted to the Houston Medical Center where he later died.

A Crime Stoppers tip led deputies to a 16-year-old suspect who was later arrested at his home. A gun was found in his room. According to officials he was not cooperative and tried to kick out the windows of the patrol vehicle. The juvenile suspect has at this point refused to answer any questions about the incident, which is still being investigated. He is currently being held in the Fort Bend County juvenile detention center.
