HOUSTON (Covering Katy News) – A Taste of Cy-Fair began in 2017 by a handful of Cy-Fair and Houston business owners who wanted to make a difference and it will continue for a third year in a row this year.

“A Taste of Cy-Fair was originally started to help Cy-Fair families and friends affected by Hurricane Harvey,” said Eric Lippmann, one of the founding board members. “We put our heads and talents together, and along with generous sponsors, participants, and countless volunteers, we organized the event in about seven weeks and raised more than $20,000 for Cy-Hope’s earmarked Harvey recovery efforts. It was an awesome display of generosity and collaboration,” said Eric.

The second annual A Taste of Cy-Fair took place on September 29, 2018, still focused on raising fund for Cy-Hope.

“We continue to donate all our event fundraising to support Cy-Hope,” said Mark McSchaffry, restaurant owners and founding board member. “In 2018, thanks to our sponsors, 100% of ticket sales and the silent auction went directly to Cy-Hope to help in the great charitable works they do in Cy-Fair year-round.

Similar to 2017, there was an incredible outpouring of support and excitement from everyone who participated in and attended the festivities,” said Mark. The 2018 A Taste of Cy-Fair saw over 1,700 happy attendees and was able to generate donations of ~$40,000 to Cy-Hope.

Again in 2019, A Taste of Cy-Fair will donate event funds raised to Cy-Hope. The Cy-Hope mission is to make life better for all kids in the Cy-Fair community. They have nine programs to support their mission and consistently make a difference in the Cy-Fair community.

“We cannot do what we do without the support of the community and partners like A Taste of Cy-Fair, said Holly Calbat of Cy-Hope. "Their generous donation in 2017 & 2018 made it possible for Cy-Hope to expand its programs and bring HOPE to more students in CFISD. Thank-you does not do justice to our heartfelt appreciation to all who worked and supported A Taste of Cy-Fair. We are humbled and grateful to again be chosen as the recipient of the proceeds from this event and are looking forward to a fabulous 2019 event."

“We are more excited than ever to make this year’s event bigger and better! Each year we have continued to grow the event, in both offerings and entertainment for attendees, and in the amount we’ve raised for Cy-Hope. 2019 will be no different!” said Robin Beattie, marketing agency owner, and founding board member. In 2019, the event will showcase more than 40 local Cy-Fair and Houston restaurants, more than 50 different wines, dozens and dozens of different breweries and craft beers, local Cy-Fair and Houston artisans and businesses, a silent auction, live music, various forms of entertainment, and more. “It’s going to be a really fun event that no one will want to miss.”

The VIP experience will be back again this year. It includes one-hour early event entry, a private tent, premium bites, wines and beers, dedicated entertainment, seating areas, a goodie bag, and more. VIP access will be limited and is expected to sell out before the event.
