Bald Eagle in Pine Mill Ranch

A Bald Eagle in Pine Mill Ranch.

KATY, FORT BEND COUNTY (Covering Katy News) - The bald eagle is the national bird and it's no longer on the government's list of endangered species but it is still somewhat rare to see, unless you live in the Pine Mill Ranch subdivision which sits between FM 1463 and Spring Green Boulevard.

"The Pine Mill Ranch eagle has returned," exclaimed a Facebook post on the Fort Bend County Precinct 3 Facebook page.

Resident Margaret Frank provided deputies with a photo of the beautiful bird perched atop a light pole.

In the late 20th century the bald eagle was close to extinction in the contiguous 48 United States. Populations have since recovered and it was removed from the list of endangered species in 1995 and transferred to the list of threatened species where it was removed in 2007.
