Houston Police patch

HOUSTON (Covering Katy News) - A man riding a bicycle was struck by a full-sized pick up truck and killed early Monday morning on Barker Cypress Road near the Katy Freeway. The Houston police are investigating the incident that happened at about 5:20 a.m. 

The male victim, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Maness and Officer J. Tran reported:

"The victim was riding a bicycle southbound when he was struck by a gray Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck," according to an HPD statement. 

The male driver of the pick up truck remained at the scene and was found not to be impaired according to HPD. 

Currently, there are no charges. The investigation is continuing.
