KATY/HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy News) - Devante Jackson, who was arrested after a high-speed pursuit through West Harris County last week has been charged with murder. Jackson is accused of the shooting death of a man found in a North Houston apartment in July.
Deputies from Harris County Precinct 5 Constable Ted Heap’s Office, working in conjunction with the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force, helped catch Jackson after a pursuit that started near Westheimer and Highway 6 and ended in the 900 block of South Fry Road on August 28.
After being turned over to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson has been formally charged with the murder of Charles Ransom whose body was discovered in the 300 block of Highland Cross Drive on July 18.
“Our deputies were happy to assist the investigating agencies in pursuing this suspect and ultimately getting him off the streets so that he can stand trial for his actions,” said Constable Heap.
Jackson, 24, is being held in the Harris County Jail without bond while he awaits trial.
