KATY (Covering Katy News) – One man is dead after being struck on the flyover ramp connecting the Katy Freeway east to the Grand Parkway south.

As of late Saturday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office had not made a statement about the accident, but details of what happened were provided to Covering Katy by a wrecker driver who was called to the scene and informed by deputies of the details. She said the victim’s car had a flat tire on the flyover ramp.  She said the man got out of his car and was struck by a passing vehicle on the ramp. The man’s body was sent over the side wall to the feeder road below where he was struck a second time by a passing motorist.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation. As of 5 p.m. Saturday, the investigation was ongoing and the body had not yet been removed by the Harris County Medical Examiner.

State Police and sheriff’s deputies had the flyover ramp and many of the roadways in the area closed.

Covering Katy will provide additional information as it is made available.
