FORT BEND COUNTY (Covering Katy News) - Fort Bend County Precinct 4 Constable Trever Nehls will not seek a third term and appears to be setting the stage for a run for sheriff of Fort Bend County Sheriff.
Last month, Trever’s brother, Sheriff Troy Nehls, announced he will not seek a third term as Sheriff and formed an exploratory committee for Congressional District 22. Sheriff Nehls is expected to announce his Congressional campaign in December.
Constable Nehls, who is also a Colonel in the United States Army Reserve, is currently serving overseas in the Middle East and is not expected to return to the states until sometime early 2020.
“I am honored to help my brother while he’s serving overseas in defense of our country”, said Sheriff Troy Nehls. “I will continue to encourage my brother to run for Sheriff of Fort Bend County. He has the skill-set, experience, and proven servant leadership. He would make an excellent Sheriff.”
The Republican Primary election is March 3, 2020. Filing deadline for candidates is December 9th, 2019.
