HOUSTON (Covering Katy News) - A pedestrian who was walking along the Katy Freeway near Park Ten Boulevard is dead after being struck by a passing sport utility vehicle.

The incident happened along the HOV/toll lanes at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday. It caused the the entire freeway westbound to be closed for three-and-a-half hours as investigators gathered evidence, documented the scene, and interviewed the driver who struck the pedestrian.

The driver of the Toyota FJ Cruiser was not intoxicated and no charges are expected to be filed by the Houston Police Department. 

It's not clear why the victim was walking along the HOV/toll lanes of the Katy Freeway. 

All lanes of the freeway reopened at 5:15 a.m.
