KATY (Covering Katy News)  – When everyone returns from Winter Break in January 2020, Cinco Ranch Junior High students and parents will see a familiar and new face as part of their campus family. Katy Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Ken Gregorski appointed Mona Salinas, as the new principal of Cinco Ranch Junior High (CRJH) on Monday.

Ms. Salinas holds 20 years of experience in public education, which include roles as classroom teacher, instructional coordinator, assistant principal and principal.

“This is truly a homecoming for me. I look forward to not only reconnecting with many families in the community, but forming connections with new ones,” Salinas said. “Having previously been an assistant principal at CRJH, I know the expectations and strong values of this community. I will strive to maintain strong fine arts and athletic programs, high achieving scores, and the numerous clubs and philanthropic opportunities that CRJH provides the students," added Salinas.

Salinas started her career with the Houston Independent School District, as a pre-kindergarten and kindergarten bilingual teacher, where she later transitioned into a campus instructional coordinator role. Her first job in Katy ISD was an assistant principal at Exley Elementary. In 2010, she transitioned to junior high as an assistant principal at CRJH. Her most recent position was as the principal of Fielder Elementary.

Ms. Salinas received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Sam Houston State University, as well as a Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston.
