KATY (Covering Katy News) – The West I-10 Volunteer Fire Department is teaming up with several local businesses and nonprofit organizations to assist hurricane victims in the Bahamas. Portions of the Bahamas have been devastated by Hurricane Dorian.
"Being familiar with this type of devastation we are once again accepting donations to assist in the relief efforts," said a press release from the West I-10 F.D. "We are partnered with Supply Bridge Ministries, NBD Graphics, Forthright Construction, Cresa, Camp Bow Wow-Katy, Katy Responds, Eurmove, Christian Business Fellowship Association and Rhinestone Marketing."
The West I-10 Volunteer Fire Department and its partners were instrumental in helping the local community when Harvey hit and have also helped communities in the Carolinas and Mexico Beach, Florida in their recovery efforts.
"We were contacted once again by local citizens as well as citizens/organizations in the Bahamas requesting help," the press release said.
The hours of operation will be daily from 12 p.m. (Noon) until 6 p.m. at the fire station located at 22125 Kingsland Boulevard, a short distance west of Mason Road.
They are collecting the following:
• Any Baby Items
• Hygiene Products/Water
• Any First Aid Products
• Pet Supplies
• Heavy Duty Rubber Work Gloves
• Tents/EZ Ups
• Sleeping Cots/Air Mattresses
• Canned food and non-perishable food (Pasta, Rice and Beans)
