KATY/HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy News) - Taylor High School was in lockout - secure the building mode for 13 minutes Wednesday afternoon but it had nothing to do with any direct danger on campus.
"At approximately 1:13 p.m., THS was placed on lockout mode while local law enforcement apprehended a suspect who was located in a nearby neighborhood," said an email sent to parents by Principal Chris Morgan. "By 1:26 p.m., the lockout mode was lifted."
Morgan said it's not unusual for school buildings to be put into lockout mode when police are attempting to capture criminal suspects in a nearby area.
"We did this as it is our standard operating procedure to secure the campus whenever we are informed of these types of threats," Morgan wrote.
Students and staff were safe inside the building, and classroom instruction was not interrupted.
