KATY/HARRIS COUNTY (Covering Katy News) - One man is dead after a family disturbance in the Williamsburg Hamlet subdivision in Katy/Harris County on Sunday. He was shot by a Harris County Sheriff's deputy.
The neighborhood where the incident took place is a short distance west of Highway 99 off Franz Road. It happened in the 24000 block of Wassail Way according to the Sheriff's Office.
"There was some type of disturbance. Multiple shots were fired," said Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. That is when deputies were called to respond.
"The male was inside with a gun and that's what started this whole thing," Gonzalez said.
Gonzalez says the suspect took off and was jumping fences when he was spotted by a deputy. The deputy says the man showed a gun. The deputy, in fear for his life, shot the man and killed him.
The dead man is in his late 30s or early 40s according to the sheriff. He's not been identified. The deputy who shot the man has not been identified either.
