CITY OF KATY (Covering Katy News) - The last day of the job for Katy Independent School District police officer Shannon Dresser, who is also a beauty queen and holds the title of Mrs. Texas, concluded with the surprise appearance of her husband, back from a year-long military deployment oversees. It happened Friday night at Legacy stadium during a halftime ceremony that honored veterans.
"I could not believe it when the announcer thanked my husband by name," Dresser said. I thought it was very kind of them to do that, but then he mentioned that he joined us here tonight. I was shocked and so happy to see him," Officer Dresser said.
Dresser has been with Katy ISD Police Department since 2015 but she is leaving because her husband, Sergeant First Class Chance Jackowski, has been assigned to a new base in Colorado. Officer Dresser and Lilly Anne, his 11-year-old daughter, will be joining him there soon.
Dresser served as the department's K9 handler. She and her loyal partner, a Hungarian-German Shepherd named Cruz, concluded their time together on Friday.
"A year is a long time to be away from someone you love, luckily I was able to do it with Cruz and Lilly Anne by my side, while working at a job that I love."
"Officer Dresser was an inspiration to many students during her time on the Katy ISD Police Force," said a statement from the Katy school district. "Her tenaciousness and friendly demeanor helped her to advance and grow, and she eventually landed a coveted job, as one of only two K9 handlers for the Katy ISD PD."
Dresser won the Mrs. Texas title in October of 2018. She won the Miss Texas title in 2017 and was the first runner up for the Miss United States title that same year.
