CINCO RANCH (Covering Katy News) - There is still time to sign up for the 17th annual Katy Area YMCA Turkey Dash on Thanksgiving Day at the Monty Ballard YMCA at the corner of Westheimer Parkway and Peek Road in Cinco Ranch.

This year’s event includes a 10K, 5K, 1 Mile Kids Race and 1 Mile Walk/Run. You can also look forward to the best post-race party packed with food, giveaways, a photo booth and a kids fun zone.

The fun actually begins before the race for participants and spectators with vendor giveaways and other fun activities.

"We are excited for a great event this Thanksgiving Holiday and look forward to connecting with you," said a press release from the YMCA.

Responding to popular demand, Child Watch will be available for race participants and spectators this year.

"Our highly skilled staff are eager to provide a safe and fun experience for your child while you participate in the race," said a statement from the YMCA. "Space is limited. Register at your local YMCA or online."

Registration for Child Watch closes Wednesday, November 27. No drop offs on race morning will be allowed without prior registration.

"If you love to dress up for races, we encourage you to do so," the press release said. "Enter solo or as a group in our 5th annual costume contest with prizes awarded for the best Thanksgiving theme and most unique costume."

Parking will be available in the near-by Villagio parking garage and The Fellowship Church. Overflow parking shuttles will run from 6:30-10:30 a.m. from the Super Target parking lot, 23710 Westheimer Parkway. A bus will leave every 8-10 minutes or as the bus fills and will drop off near the race site.
