KATY (Covering Katy News) - A suspected drunk driver has been arrested after leading Fort Bend County Sheriff's Deputies on a high speed chase through the Katy area early Thursday morning.

At about 2:30 a.m. a Fort Bend sheriff's deputy attempted a traffic stop at Highway 99 near Cinco Ranch Boulevard. The driver of a pickup truck refused to stop and his vehicle struck parked cars while he was fleeing along side streets in Cinco Ranch.

Eventually the driver made his way back to Highway 99 and then to the Katy Freeway eastbound toward Houston.

Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies set up spike strips along the freeway near Greenhouse Road. The spikes deflated the tires of the fleeing driver's car but he continued on to a parking lot along Highway 6 and then took off on foot.

A deputy used a taser to knock the suspected drunk driver to the ground. Following the jolt the Houston Fire Department EMS crews evaluated the suspect before he was arrested and taken off to jail.

Deputies say he was drunk. He faces evading and driving while intoxicated charges.
