This image of a fleeing car striking an Kroger employee was placed on the Fort Bend County Sheriffs' Office Facebook page and it helped solve the case.

KATY, FORT BEND COUNTY (Covering Katy News) - A teenage driver is accused of fleeing the scene of an accident that happened in the Kroger parking lot at 9800 Gaston Road across from Tompkins High School. The 16 year-old teen was caught after a photo of the incident was placed on Facebook.

"Victim had minor injuries and is ok," said a Facebook post from the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The vehicle was being driven through the parking lot and struck a cart that was being pushed by a Kroger employee Major Chad Norvell told Covering Katy News.

The cart was knocked into the employee causing minor injuries according to Norvell.

"The vehicle did not stop," Norvell said. "A local parent saw our Facebook post and recognized the vehicle looked like his, so he went outside and checked it. The vehicle did have fresh damage to the front right side. His daughter told him she had let her friend drive it and the friend did admit to the crash and leaving the scene," Norvell said.

The report will be forwarded to the district attorney's office for charges of fail to stop and render aid.

The driver is 17 years old and the victim is a 16 year-old male.
