KATY (Covering Katy News) - The Katy Independent School District spent the summer replacing scoreboards and sound systems at several area schools. The $925,000 project is part of the 2017 construction and facilities bond approved by voters.

The scoreboards had exceeded their 15-year life cycle and become expensive to keep operable according too Katy ISD.

Mayde Creek High, Morton Ranch High, Memorial Parkway Junior High, McMeans Junior High, Morton Ranch Junior High, Cinco Ranch Junior High, and Beckendorff Junior High all received new scoreboards.

Campuses that received new sound systems were Katy High, Morton Ranch High, McMeans Junior High, Morton Ranch Junior High, Cinco Ranch Junior High, and Beckendorff Junior High.

The sound systems at the identified campuses have exceeded their life cycle expectancy of 10 years and required frequent repairs to remain operable according to the school district.

All were replaced with equipment that uses newer technologies, is designed for the constant use in the competition gyms, and they are more energy efficient than the previous equipment.
