CINCO RANCH (Covering Katy News) - The two Katy Area YMCA clubs will host the 17th annual Turkey Dash presented by Houston Methodist West Hospital on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 2019. The race has grown in recent years to become one of the largest and most anticipated fun runs in the Greater Houston Area.

With four events to choose from, there’s something for everyone. There will be a 10K, 5K, Kids Fun Run and a 1 Mile Walk/Run. All races start on Peek Road at Westheimer Parkway near the Monty Ballard YMCA at Cinco Ranch, 22807 Westheimer Parkway. It's just a short distance east of the Grand Parkway.

Organizers expect 6,000 participants and more than 1,500 spectators and volunteers to take part in this year’s event. Race day highlights include 10K and 5K awards in age categories, a post race party featuring door prizes, and refreshments.

Local businesses will provide, games and giveaways.  There will also be a Kids Fun Zone and a costume contest.

“The Turkey Dash is an event where families get together and celebrate a holiday while creating new memories. A successful event is only possible because of the support of our local community, committed volunteers and local businesses,” says Greg Coop, District Vice President of the YMCA. “Knowing that we are all working for the same worthy cause, and helping so many families have a great time, makes this event very special.”

In addition to a great time, participants receive the satisfaction of knowing their race fees go toward a good cause, the YMCA Annual Campaign. This annual fundraiser ensures that Katy families have access to Y programs and services regardless of their ability to pay.
