Rep. John Zerwas, R-Richmond.

KATY (Covering Katy News) - State Representative John Zerwas will be the featured speaker at the next Barker Flood Prevention community engagement meeting. The flood prevention group is headed by Republican Wendy Duncan who is running against incumbent Republican Andy Meyers in the GOP Primary for Fort Bend County Precinct 3 Commissioner.

"Barker Flood Prevention will host our fourth community engagement meeting featuring a legislative update by Dr. John Zerwas, Texas Representative District 28 and chairman of the House Appropriations Committee," said the press release distributed to Covering Katy News by Duncan. "The 2019 Texas Legislative Session accomplished some important steps toward flood management for our state. Although our focus will be flood related issues, attendees will be able to ask Dr. Zerwas about other legislation passed during this session."

Zerwas recently announced that he will not be seeking re-election. He currently serves at the chair of the powerful House Appropriations Committee which oversees state government spending.

The meeting is Tuesday, September 17, 2019 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. It will be held at River Bend Baptist Church 27600 FM 1093 Fulshear, TX 77441.

Barker Flood Prevention was founded by Wendy Duncan and Marlin Williford in June 2018. Members of our BFP Steering Committee are Patrick Friend, Erich Schroeder, Chancie Davis, Libby Clark, Dave Clark, Susanna Dias, John Barrett, James Uhl, Tim Miller, and JJ Wheeler.
